Yamaha Europe has just launched the Tricity MY 2022 three-wheeled scooter. Previously, the Yamaha Tricity was also marketed in Indonesia, seeing that there is already a new version in Europe, will Yamaha Indonesia also bring it to Indonesia?
Some time ago, Yamaha Europe gave refreshments to the Tricity 125 and Tricity 155 three-wheeled scooters. This refresh was carried out in the engine area, a little on the frame, to the design.
In order to make the environment better, the Tricity 125 or 155 now carries a new engine that has passed the EURO5 emission test. Machines equipped with Blue Core technology are now claimed to be more efficient and emission friendly. The Tricity engine also still uses Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology.
In addition to a more emission-friendly engine, Tricity also carries a Starter Generator Control Unit (SGCU) which is claimed to be able to optimize the electrical and electronic functions of the engine. Yamaha even claims this technology can make fuel delivery, motor power generation, and its Start & Stop system more environmentally friendly.
In the past, PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM) once sold the Tricity model in Indonesia on a CBU basis or fully imported from other countries. But now the sale is discontinued. So, with the renewal of models in Europe, is there a possibility that Tricity will be sold again here?
“In the past, we have (sold Tricity in Indonesia). Now there are no plans (to sell it again),” explained the Manager of Public Relations, YRA & Community, PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM), Antonius Widiantoro, in Jakarta (27/5 /2022).
According to Anton, importing a product that has just been launched in Europe cannot be done right away. Because it is also necessary to know whether in the Indonesian market there is a desire for these products.
“What’s certain is that imports must be planned far in advance, we can’t just launch it in Europe and then we’ll directly import it. Then we also have to see what the demand is like? Don’t let us enter it, but not because there is a demand from consumers, It’s also a shame (if that’s the case). That’s why we also always see the market response first. If consumers really want it, we’ll definitely consider it,” said Anton.
