Mio S Injected Dead, Yamaha Prepares a New, More Sophisticated Automatic Motor?

Jakarta

PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing or YIMM has injected death Yamaha Mio S in Indonesia. The vehicle is the third automatic motorcycle manufacturer to discontinue production this year. Is it true that YIMM is preparing a new, more sophisticated product?

Public Relations Manager of PT YIMM, Antonius Widiantoro, said that his party’s decision to inject the Yamaha Mio S had been carefully and long considered. The vehicle was stopped being produced not because it was not selling well, but because innovation was needed.

“So changing products, changing products, or issuing new products is part of innovation and answers to consumer needs,” said Anton, quoted by detikOto, Friday (28/10/2022).

“That’s very natural, very common, it’s not just that there are products that are discontinued, then the product is labeled as a failure, it’s not like that, because the changes still exist,” he added.

Before Mio S, Yamaha first inoculated Mio Z and Soul GT in Indonesia. Interestingly, the three products are both 125 cc engines and come from the beginner or entry level class.

Practically, now Yamaha’s entry-level automatic motorcycle only leaves a few models, such as Mio M3, GEAR, X-ride, Fino, and Fazzio. So, will YIMM launch a new motorcycle in the same segment instead?

Anton confirmed that Yamaha might launch new products in this segment. However, he could not confirm what model and when it was launched.

However, it is clear that all Yamaha products sold in Indonesia must be in accordance with the needs and interests of domestic consumers.

“Is there a new model? I can’t say no, Yamaha will always issue new products. But whether the product is Mio or another, it’s part of the strategy, part of the company’s innovation to get the attention of consumers,” said Anton.
