Many motorcyclists skidded on Jl Pintu Besar Utara, Kota Tua. Footage of the accident went viral on social media. The DKI Transportation Agency appealed to motorists not to cross the area.
“We urge people who have been using the Kota Tua area as a route to avoid this area and use alternative routes or use public transportation,” said Head of the DKI Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, to detikcom, Saturday (10/9/2022).
Kota Tua area is a low emission zone (Low Emission Zone). Vehicles that are allowed to pass in this historic area are public transportation and local residents’ vehicles with a special sticker for the LEZ area. Motorcyclists should not pass on Jl Pintu Besar Utara or any sections that are not allowed to be crossed by motorbikes in Kota Tua.
“We have carried out socialization since early 2021 including the installation of infrastructure and supporting facilities, also accompanied by guarding by officers,” said Syafrin.

However, in reality, there are still many motorbike riders passing by and eventually many fall, as viral videos on social media and testimonies of local residents. The DKI Transportation Agency will monitor the situation.
“For surveillance, we continue to do it consistently. In the future for supervision, we will carry out surveillance by utilizing information technology,” said Syafrin.
Based on detikcom’s field verification, Friday (9/9) yesterday evening, the area where the motorcycle is prone to slipping is at a corner, located after the Bank Indonesia Museum and Jasindo.
A series of traffic cones or orange cones complete with line dividers are also installed at this location. The officer asked the motorcyclist to cross on the right side of the road.
